Green Isn't Your Color

Dear Princess Luna...

Alright, apparently Rarity and Fluttershy have weekly spa visits together. Rarity orders 'the usual' and begins excitedly telling Fluttershy about why she was late. She met Photo Finish, the most famous fashion photographer in Equestria, who wants to take photos of Rarity's designs.
I suppose Fluttershy would be the best choice of the mane 6, besides Rarity herself of course, to model. Pinkie Pie is too, well, Pinkie Pie. Rainbow Dash probably wouldn't do it, although she has an awesome hair coloration. Applejack and Twilight could probably work though, if they changed their hair styles.
Rarity begs Fluttershy to be her model, Fluttershy finally agrees. As they leave the spa, Fluttershy remarks, "What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon." Rarity says she was so worried Fluttershy wouldn't want to model, she feels a pimple coming on, and goes back to the spa, ordering another 'usual.'
Rarity alone probably keeps this place in business.
At Rarity's boutique, she and her friends are setting up an outfit for Fluttershy. Somewhat new use for magic, Twilight is either manipulating a spot light's controls, or her magic is the spotlight. Rarity adds more feathers, ribbons, sequins, and then notices the hem is all wrong and calls for a pin cushion.
The 'pin cushion' is Spike.
Twilight asks Spike if it hurts, he says he can't even feel it because of his scales, and even if he could, he wouldn't care because he is helping the most beautiful creature, Rarity. He draws Twilight and Pinkie close and makes them swear not to tell anyone what is about to tell them. He says he has a crush on Rarity. Twilight begins to say that every pony already knows that, and Pinkie stops her, saying she swore not to talk about Spike's secret, and that losing a friend's trust is the fastest way to lose them forever.
"Guys, I-" *makes sure no one is listening* "REALLY like Rarity! Don't tell anyone!"
Photo Finish arrives and sets up her camera.
Money. Success. Fame. Glamour.
She begins taking pictures of Fluttershy, only taking photos where Fluttershy is looking sad. After a few photos, she wraps it up and says she has found a new star in Ponyville and is going to make her shine all over Equestria. Rarity is so happy she starts jumping as Spike leers at her. She is landing on Spike's tail, he doesn't even care and Twilight has to drag him away.
"It hurts so bad, but I can't stop staring at her bouncing mane..."
Later, Rarity picks out an outfit for Fluttershy, they are both really excited that Rarity will be famous. Photo Finish arrives and says the outfit is all wrong, it needs to be something simple, inspired by 'the nature.' In a shocking twist, it turns out Photo Finish is interested in Fluttershy, and not Rarity/Rarity's clothes.
"B-but that's not fair! I'm Rarity!"
Fluttershy apologizes to Rarity, Rarity says Fluttershy must do this for her. Back at her boutique, Rarity makes a black cloak for herself and says she wants to be alone. I think we know what the episode title refers to: Rarity turns 'green with envy' over Fluttershy living out her fantasy.
"Remember, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware. Anger, fear, aggression. The dark side are they. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny."
After a fashion show, Fluttershy becomes a star.

Baroness Fluttershy
"Get your Fluttershy apples today! She frequently visited our farm, and her breath may have helped them grow!"
DRINK CARROT JUICE!
Fluttershy is on magazines, attends red carpet events in a stretch carriage (which don't let Rarity in), Applejack sells Fluttershy brand apples, Fluttershy advertising banners in the sky, all of which upsets Rarity.
"THEY SHOULD BE LOVING ME!!!!!!!!!!"
Fluttershy is walking around Ponyville and fans see her. She tries to flee from them and the paparazzi, eventually running into Rarity's. Rarity congratulates Fluttershy, with obvious resentment, and Photo Finish comes in to bring Fluttershy to 'the thing at the place.' Fluttershy says she'll meet Rarity at the spa later. Two ponies enter Rarity's, looking for Fluttershy. Rarity tries to sell them some clothing, they ask who she is, then laugh as they say they never heard of her.

Photo Finish is telling a crowd about how great Fluttershy is, and how 'the magics' just come when she points the camera at her. Fluttershy tries to excuse herself to go to the spa, but as she tells Photo Finish she's late, Photo Finish realizes there's some ballet thing Fluttershy is supposed to go to and drags her off.

At the spa, Twilight is there with Rarity, and Fluttershy has yet to show up. Rarity says she wishes Fluttershy's 'star' would burn out. Twilight is shocked, saying Rarity is Fluttershy's friend. Rarity apologizes, saying she knows she should be happy for her, and begs Twilight not to say anything.
"All I'm saying, Twilight, is I created Fluttershy, and I can destroy her!"
Like at the end of the episode before this (well, technically after, but I watched it before, Over a Barrel) Twilight steals another Pinkie-ism, 'losing a friends trust is the fastest way to lose them forever' and Pinkie appears in a tub of sponges.
If you ever need Pinkie Pie, just rip off something she said.
As soon as Rarity leaves, wearing a fancy dress ("Fluttershy may be the one who's famous, but that doesn't mean I have to stop looking fabulous.") Fluttershy finally arrives. She confesses to Twilight that she hates being famous and is only doing it because Rarity really wanted her to. Twilight smirks, and is going to tell Fluttershy that Rarity doesn't like her being famous, when Pinkie pops out of the sponges again and silences her.
"Rarity literally just walked out the door, but instead of telling you to go after her, why don't you pour your heart out to me instead?"
Twilight and Fluttershy walk through town, Twilight Worth tells Fluttershy she should just quit, and is about to break her promise again when Pinkie pops out of an apple stand. Fluttershy says maybe if all the ponies don't like her anymore, Photo Finish would find someone else. Twilight gets an idea and knocks off Fluttershy's hat and sunglasses, the crowd recognizes her and swarms her.

At the Cake's bakery, Twilight is explaining her scheme. She is going to use magic to make Fluttershy do something unattractive, since she wouldn't naturally be able to do it.
"I say, it's the perfect plan! I get to humiliate one of my friends, and I don't have to keep promises anymore! And, and! I get all the credit for a job well done!"
Rarity shows up to see 'what all the fuss is about.'
That looks like another Sweet and Elite outfit. (Yep, the charity auction. Also, Photo Finish is in the art gallery scene.)
Twilight uses her magic, and we see another use for magic. She gets complete control over Fluttershy's body, even being able to make her bark like a dog or sound like a donkey.
+1 for Unicorns/Magic!
The audience is shocked and disgusted, blaming Fluttershy, you'd think they would be able to see her abject terror when the stuff was going down, or the outline of magic on her. One pony starts clapping (aka stomping her feet) and cheering, Rarity. All the other ponies are confused, then see her fancy outfit and decide if a Unicorn like that thinks it was good, they should too.
"How could this go wrong? Damn it, now I need to keep my promises, and I don't get any praise!"
In her dressing room, Fluttershy is complaining to Twilight. Twilight has to keep stopping herself from exposing Rarity's secret. Rarity enters and says how awful it was when the crowd turned on her, but that she secretly wanted them to.
DTT: Don't Trust Twilight
Rarity and Fluttershy confess their true feelings and Fluttershy apparently quits being a model. Photo Finish says she has 6 photo shoots lined up for tomorrow but Fluttershy says she won't be able to make any of them. As Photo Finish stands confused, Twilight, who had shoved her head in a potted plant to restrain herself, blurts out that Spike has a crush on Rarity. Pinkie appears in the mirror to scold her.
Pinkie, if there is anything I have done to you I'm sorry for, I'm glad of it. (Kidding, kidding, don't kill me!)
Rarity, Fluttershy, Twilight, and Spike are back at the spa. Twilight dictates a letter to Princess Celestia, saying being a good friend means being able to keep a secret, but you should also never be afraid to share your feelings. So that would mean Twilight is not a good friend, since she obviously can't keep secrets.

Spike is pissed at her for telling his 'secret' and she apologizes and asks if he's ready to write down her letter. He says he is a little busy at the moment, staring at Rarity as he fans her. Twilight rolls her eyes and sighs, and the episode ends.

What I learned from this episode:
  • We saw a pretty awesome use for magic in this episode, mind control. Further confirming my theory that in Ponyverse wars, whichever side has the most/best magic wielders, wins.
  • Fluttershy is considered beautiful and graceful. I suppose she is, especially comparing her to the other 'mane' pegasus, Rainbow Dash, as the two act completely different, usually.
  • Strangely, Rarity and Fluttershy are 'best buds' and regularly hang out with each other. It seems like they may just hang out at the spa, which makes sense since they are the two 'fancy' looking ponies.
  • I remember a Season 2 episode where Applejack breaks her Pinkie Promise and Pinkie goes ballistic, this episode shows some of Pinkie's obsession over promises.
  • Spike, who is seen wearing a Rarity <3 t-shirt, stupidly thinks Rarity doesn't know about his feelings for her.
